Newly Renovated Lake Forest College Bookstore to be Dedicated Friday, October 3, 2008
A ribbon cutting ceremony, which will include comments by President Dr. Stephen Schutt and Follett administrators, is scheduled for Friday October 3, 2008 at 3:30 pm in the bookstore. The public is invited to attend.
The renovation, a culmination of many months of planning and construction, was initiated to enhance the shopping experience for the Lake Forest community. The renovation features:
- Emphasizing efficiency, Follett’s store design team incorporated elements that would provide greater shopping ease, increase merchandise space, improve clothing displays and gift items, and create an overall ambience that invites both students and faculty to browse.A new lighter and more cohesive look that uses the school colors for the store’s palate. The color scheme is warm and inviting and is coordinated to provide a pleasant retail ambiance.
- The store’s lighting was improved by re-working the light fixture pattern and lumen output.
- Fixtures and accessories were modernized to incorporate Follett’s “signature look” and the departments were sized to meet the current needs of students.
- A new flexible merchandise plan was incorporated into the design to meet changing needs and traffic flow.
As part of the dedication festivities, special events are planned to observe the occasion:
- Friday, October 3: Ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30pm
- Saturday, October 4: Book signing, Lake Forest College Guidebook, by editor and contributor Arthur H. Miller, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

According to Bookstore Manager Eileen Whited, “We want this store to be the heart of the College's book, supply, and gift needs and to be considered a destination for students. We know we’ve achieved this goal in our renovation.”
